Located on Kirtland Air Force Base, the BRAC Battlespace Environment Lab is a multi-level, 145,000 SF office/laboratory building which includes specialized light/medium laboratory facilities aimed at studying the space environment and its effects on satellite operations as well as missions involving communication and navigation signals that must pass through the earth’s ionosphere. It also features a Class 1000 clean room, passenger and freight elevators, a reinforced concrete foundation multi-zone HVAC system, stucco finished CMU walls, a structural steel frame, a hemispheric roof dome for fixed Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) and another for an optical telescope, a vacuum pump installation, a 12/15/20 MVA electrical substation and an insulated roof. Construction included all utilities and site work.
